My Philosophy

I believe in Holistic mental health counselling for young adults and professionals

 Kindness · Grace · Faith

My approach is different because…

I provide Holistic Counselling, a space to explore the 'whole self' beneath the conditioning

  • This means I do not create a strict, stuffy environment where I am a ‘blank slate’ counsellor who is the ‘expert’ on your life.

  • Our therapeutic relationship will be integral to your process, we will work on your journey ‘together’.

  • You will not repeatedly be asked ‘how do you feel about that’… My ‘clients’ are not referred to as ‘patients’.

  • I offer ‘Teletherapy’ if you have internet connection and a technology device you do not have the need to travel.

  • I will facilitate and guide your process, helping you manage the presenting issue and offer tips and knowledge that will help you become equipped in your journey to authenticity.

  • With guidance you will work on your process to help implement action outside of the counselling session where you begin to see change take place.

  • I incorporate Faith and Spirituality in my work and have found Psychology without Spirituality can be an incomplete process.

My Approach

  • 01. Enjoying everyday life

Repeating destructive patterns of behaviours becomes a vicious cycle, wanting or hoping for change yet continuing with the same pattern can lead to frustration, angst, anger, depression, stress to name a few. Not knowing ‘why’ you are feeling a certain way can lead to up unhappiness. Living a life that looks fine on the outside yet miserable on the inside. During personal and professional therapeutic experience I have discovered the battlefield of the mind can be overcome to enjoy everyday life, including mundane tasks such as daily cooking and cleaning, going to work, looking after the children or running a household. With the aid of counselling we work on shifting the mind-set, removing the layers to explore the root cause of the issue using therapeutic models that I will help facilitate and help you on your path to enjoying everyday life.

  • 02. Time and dedication in Counselling is time well spent

If you are committed on working on your mental health to better wellbeing and maintaining a healthier state of mind, the process will enable you to also be of benefit to your friends and family. Having healthier relationships by raising your awareness, discovering your authentic self and being open-minded. By gaining knowledge and tips using therapeutic strategies you can apply these tips to patterns of relating with friends or family members. You will have the skills to be able to maintain balance and wellbeing.

Learning to journal regularly, by reflecting on your inner growth during counselling and noticing changes in yourself such as boundary setting are examples of working on your process. Documenting the journey and beyond will be of profound use to you as this will enable you to help clear the ‘mental mess’ that gets stored in the mind that can cause anxiety or trauma.

  • 03. Respecting differences and diversity

I enjoy working with clients from different backgrounds and am most respectful of diversity and differences. My passion is to help others with issues of anxiety, trauma, family dynamics that can occur in life. I believe in working with individuals in a holistic manner and can incorporate spirituality or faith if you so wish. I aim to foster an environment in which the client feels comfortable, absent of all judgement, where client and I are authentic and genuine. My experience of working with clients range from different backgrounds and understanding cultural influences that can cause issues of anxiety. In particular, I have knowledge, experience and understanding of Eastern cultures and societies which has helped inform my work with diverse clients.

  • 04. ‘Kindness, Grace, Faith’ philosophy

This therapeutic service will bestow upon you and teach you how to treat your ‘own self’ with ‘Kindness, Grace and Faith

‘’Kindness… the quality of being kind …is to treat someone with kindness and consideration.’’

    • Be kind to yourself

    • Trust the therapeutic process

‘’Grace… a quality of behaviour that is polite and pleasant and deserves respect.’’

    • Give yourself Grace

    • Be accepting of Grace in your journey

‘’Faith…trust in somebody’s ability of knowledge.’’

    • Believe and walk in faith

    • Have faith in your process

Faith is important to me so it’s a key component to the way I work

Faith and Spirituality make up my values. Complimenting my beliefs in working holistically in counselling.

Psychology and Spirituality, in my experience transcend each other in aiding the journey to a more authentic self.

Spirituality can be thought of as a search, a process to discover.

This aligns with the process of psychology and managing mental health issues in my work.

You may find it helpful to explore your beliefs, values, childhood and whether that was informed by Faith.

I provide a space for you to explore your thoughts about the Higher Power and what that means for you.

My belief is Psychology and Spirituality is a combination of the 'whole self'.

"Psychology and Spirituality are combined in helping heal clients at KGF Counselling".

How will I know what you’re going through?

We will work together

Each individual’s blueprint is unique, by using professional therapeutic techniques and models I can appreciate your struggles and have the skills to be able to help you on your road to recovery towards balanced wellbeing. Not having gone through exactly what you may have or are does not mean I would not know how to help. My training and skills allow me to work with you therapeutically, I will be open-minded and importantly I will not be providing ‘advice’ or ‘telling you what to do’. The therapeutic relationship ultimately will enable you to eventually seek your path in an autonomous way. The client normally always knows what they want – they may just need some help during the process to help think clearly in getting through the presenting issue. I may be the mental health professional, but you are the expert on yourself. So, we work together therapeutically to help you along your process.
